Blank CD's are a common commodity today. The vast majority of blank CD media on the market is made with a cheap process that results in low cost CD's that are suitable for many general consumer uses. The CD's are inexpensive, but they are also very unreliable. THe dyes and chemicals that are used to make the CD deteriorate over time, rendering the CD unusable. This process happens at an unpredictable rate. Personaly, I've had CD's fail after 18 months - and these CD's were stored in perfect conditions.
When you invest in having your images delivered on CD, you are paying for the right to access these images for a lifetime. To ensure that you get what you have paid for, I have researched and obtained exceptionaly high quality archival grade CD media. In contrast to the unstable chemicals used to make common CD's, these CD's are manufactured with compounds that are known to be stable for hundreds of years.
